So lazy...

I find myself with a lot of free time on my hands lately.

I've finished with all of my prerequisites for nursing school.  I'm waiting to see if I'm accepted.  It is so competitive that I'm worried that I won't get in.  Sure I have one of the highest scores in the pre-entrance exam and a 3.9, but the stupid point system at the school doesn't really factor in good grades.  It gives a lot of points for currently working in the medical field.  A student working as a receptionist in a doctor's office with a 2.5 and a low score would have priority over me.  I don't know what I will do if I'm not accepted.  The deadline was March 1st and I still haven't heard anything.  It makes me nervous.

On the days that I don't work, I find that I waste all of my time.  I think about productive things, but do none of them.  Today, I watched movies, made dinner, did dishes and that was it.  There's got to be more to life than this.

  1. Personally, I think there's something in the air that's sapping people's will to live. I call this odorless, invisible substance "ennuiendum" and ascribe its existence to the New World Order and the Illuminati. They have tried to make us placid and tractable, but on some of us (like you and me) it has gone too far, leaving us with no recourse but to watch endless episodes of "Bargain Hunt" on BBC America and read blogs obsessively.
We must fight this, Patrick. You know we must.
You and Greg, come move to Oregon City, we'll start a survivalist compound like I've always wanted to do. I've got rifles and a months worth of food stored in my basement. We'll be like Mormons without the Mormonism and restrictive undergarments!
There's room to move as a survivalist! Within six months you could be president of your own seperatist nation.
If that's not appealing to you, I recommend drinking lots of Rockstar. It's expensive, but it gets you moving.

  2. Oh, I love Bargain Hunt. I can also watch How Clean is Your House over and over, even though nothing new ever happens.

  3. It's RuPaul's Drag Race. I tuned into it last night and next time I looked at the clock it was 2 hours later. You obviously have found too many fascinating recreational activities to feel like getting anything else done now.

  4. So, you like it, huh? Who is your favorite?

  5. Jade has really pretty eyes. I'm also enjoying the self-described androgynous creations Nina puts together. Very creative. It's too bad about Tammie giving up and being kicked off... Tammie had a quality that made you really want to lean in and understand wtf. Watching them work together on stuff is bizarre because they are coming from so many different niches of dragdom from what I can tell. Hell, seeing RuPaul out of drag (aside from the But I'm a Cheerleader role) is worth it alone.
Good stuff. Who are you voting for now?

  6. My money has always been on Bebe. She isn't my favorite, but if it was a horse race, she would be my favorite. She does drag perfectly. I also really like Nina Flowers. She ends up having one of the best attitudes in the later shows.
My cousin directed But I'm a Cheerleader. Of course, it is a cousin I've never met though.

  7. Your cousin? WOW. That movie influenced my life greatly when it came out.
Bebe? Really! I thought she was kind of a non-entity from the early stuff I was watching. I'm surprised.
Nina tries so hard and sincerely that I like her too.
If I was going to guess who would win based on what I've seen so far, I'd say Nina. She's kind of in a class all her own. Of course, she has the language barrier for being a spokesperson. I'm trying not to vote for any one person because my favorites ALWAYS lose in pageants and the like.

  8. You know, I take that back. I think maybe Chanel is going to be the winner because she has the most articulateness and that is needed to be a representative.

  9. And now that I'm watching the next episode, I see it is Rebecca that has the pretty eyes and prince-like lips.

  10. ok I am so sorry, this is my last comment, but I just realized that Jade IS the one with the prettiest eyes and Rebecca has the prettiest lips. Now, i can rest knowing I have said my bit!

  11. Comment away...I've been dying to talk about this show with someone. I can't believe that you don't think Bebe has some presence. Maybe it comes later.
Ewww! I can't stand Rebecca. She kind of becomes the villain of the show (you know how they always make someone out to be the bad guy). You have only seen a couple of episodes, I'm guessing. Also, I hate her makeup. I think it looks like she has raccoon eyes, like she has just gone skiing.

  12. ..so joining a compound in Oregon
well let me just say (little Greg here btw) count me in!! But, only if I can talk obsessively about the Leader... and eat more than just beans (maybe rice)
As for RuPauls dragrace!! ZOMG I love it!! I think that Rebecca is pretty too... nice teeth if she was a racoon-horse I would buy her! I love love love Nina Flowers she has always been my favorite..*swoons*

  13. nursing
One of the first things to learn about the nursing program is that theymake up their own rules as they go.
Some are dangerous and some are stupid like the preference to working in the medical field.
Tim is almost finished and he can't believe the old fashioned incompetence in the whole program. He starts his clinical soon and then takes the boards!!
    Woohoo
He has had a time keeping his mouth closed and opinions to himself when he knows he is right and they are wrong.
best of luck, and being a couch potatoe is fun!!

  14. I'm now caught up on the shows. You're right about Bebe and Rebecca. I can't believe chanel is gone, that sucks. They should bring back a removed contestant as one of the final "twists". When does it air again?

  15. It is on Monday nights, I'm not sure what time. Then they put it online. The next show is "a look back" with never seen before "drama".
I think they should bring someone back too. You read my mind.
Greg thinks they got rid of Ongina because she was HIV positive. I think that it was just the way the cookie crumbles. What do you think? I liked Ongina, but I figure he has the Viva Glam gig and he represented a more androgynous type of drag that they weren't looking for on the show.
Greg and I liked Chanel for the simple fact that she said, "I should have one that time" every time. I think that Chanel might still be there if she didn't say that she thinks she should be removed.
Were you shocked when Rebecca won over Jade? I couldn't believe that.

  16. Re: nursing
I'm certainly not going to complain. I have been amazed at the caliber of people trying to get into nursing school. It makes you worry about being sick.
