How to Play Craps Part II - Come Bets

This is for Mary:

To place a come bet you simply put money in the center of the table when there is already a point established. A come bet is exactly the same thing as a pass line bet. It is like starting a new game within a game. So when you are in the come box and a 7 or 11 rolls, you win. If a 2, 3, or 12 roll, you lose. Sound familiar? If, for example, a 5 rolls, the dealer takes your come bet and puts it in the box that says 5. It is called the flat bet.

Now, you have the option of having odds with that bet, just like with the pass line bet. For odds, you have to put down money and tell the dealer, "odds on 5". He will then offset your odds on top of the come bet. If seven rolls now, you lose. If a 5 rolls, you win. The dealer will take the money out of the box and pay it in the come box. You then have to pick it up.

If you have a flat bet in the come box when the five hits as well as money on 5. Then the dealer will pay you and place it next to the flat bet in the come box. He will then say "off and on" (or at least he should). The flat bet and the odds in the 5 box stays there, because that is where your come bet would be going anyway. It is assumed that you want the same odds.

Let's say the thrower makes their point and the puck is turned off (black) and so it is a new comeout roll. The odds on top of your come bets are off. They won't win or lose. The flat bets are on and can not be called off. They are at risk. Let's say a 5 rolls again. The dealer will mark the 5 and then pay the flat bet. You will get your odds back, but they will not be paid.

If a seven rolls on a comeout roll, the dealer will hand back your odds, but your flat bet loses.

You have complete control over the odds. You can ask for them back if you think a seven is coming. You also have the option of calling them off. If you do this a dealer will put a button on one of your bets that says off. You will not lose or win on your odds, just like on the comeout roll. You can also call your odds on during the comeout roll. The dealer will put a button on top of one of your bets and if that number rolls, you will win the flat bet and the payoff on the odds. The default during the comeout roll though is off.

Confusing? Just wait 'til I get to the Don't Pass and Don't Come.
